gratitude

As the new year begins, I am filled with gratitude.
My world transformed four years ago when I left the corporate life and followed my dreams.
This journey continues to bring amazing projects, opportunities, and people.
Cheers to 2013...

color of the year

The Pantone Color Institute announced the 2013 Color of the Year:
17-5641 Emerald.
Pantone describes the choice as:
"Lively. Radiant. Lush… A color of elegance and beauty that enhances our sense of well-being, balance and harmony."
This vivid green replaces last year's color, Tangerine Tango.  The energetic orange was 2012, now we have the color of prosperity and growth for the upcoming year.

"For more than a decade, Pantone's Color of the Year has influenced product development and purchasing decisions in multiple industries, including fashion, home and industrial design, as well as product packaging and graphic design," the news release said.

The bold emerald color has been growing in popularity recently and I'm looking forward to seeing more of this fresh green hue throughout design.  What do you think of the new "it" color for 2013?

white or white

This week 15" inches of snow fell in Minneapolis.  A winter-wonderland remains the backdrop for many months.  The season shifts to unique outdoor sports, snowmen, warm comfort foods, hot drinks, and cool winter accessories!
Everything is white outside…hundreds of tints and shades.

Clients often request "white" for architectural finishes and details, not realizing that there are so many options.

Some tips:  Modern interiors look dramatic in pure, crisp whites with bright contrasts.  In traditional spaces, antique whites best match the period.  For a casual atmosphere, shades of cream and neutrals create a relaxed vibe.
Start with the perfect white...then bring on the color!

wine + canvas

A Wine and Canvas event!  We had so much fun creating our Georgia O'Keefe-style paintings while sipping wine and socializing.  And our paintings coordinated with this fancy red & blue room...

A custom reception desk was the finale in the new office space.  The three-dimensional, carved front panel is much more dramatic in person!  See close-up detail below...

The newly branded office!  Sienna Lynn Studio incorporates tailored, transitional details, with modern accents.  Perimeter glass carries natural light into the space, half-height walls create an open-office atmosphere, and flat screen monitors become focal points throughout.

b4 and after

Many of you have asked to see more of our 'before and after' photos on this blog.  Here are a few from the urban office project.

I had the opportunity to design a new office build-out in the Minneapolis North Loop neighborhood. Two non-profits merged together to form a new organization with new requirements and a much larger space.

Sienna Lynn Studio worked with the client to integrate the diverse brands and work styles of two merging organizations.  The new space provides a dramatic entrance into the reception area, private offices, open workstations, bike racks, locker room, large and small conference rooms, and cafe that supports valued cultural influences.  Maintaining environmentally friendly, sustainable materials and technologies is also a main concept captured throughout the space.

The final completion date soon approaching: mid October.  We can't wait to see the fishished space!

Busy working on another large office build-out, complete with a warehouse and mezzanine above.
Phase I includes implementing the company's programming needs into a schematic plan for pricing. Construction planned for Spring.

Stay tuned for a new productive, efficient (and beautiful) space for 25+ employees!

facelift

Before:
< This pale clinic needs some cosmetic changes to the interior!

Sienna Lynn Studio loves working with local businesses to create interiors that reflects their company brand.  In this case, "a more comfortable, richer feel" is desired for the clinic.
